i bet theres alot of resistance in the pipework between the pump outlet and the shower head.

first the water has to go up to the diverter (which are often small bored)
then down again to the mixer, which may or not have n.r. valves, then up again to the shower head which might have tiny holes...

i bet the water is down to a trickle after that assault course with hardly enough "ooomph" to lift the pump flow switches...

All is now working fine, Straker i thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Have now removed all four non return valves from the shower valves sunk into the wall, pump triggers each and every time now.

Lovely.

Hi Jamie,
Is this still working. Looks I do have the same issue, the same make of the shower, the same symptoms....Did removing the valves cause any other issues? Is this safe and will did not damage the pump?
Please let me know, as it looks that apart of the nagative head pump there is no much we can do.
Thanks

Hi Anna.

No probs with shower at all after removing the NR valves. Or with the pump.

If you were to get a problem as a result of removing the NR valves it would probably be water running back towards the pump a bit causing the pump to trigger again and pulse on and off, its unlikely that this wil happen though due to head pressure.

If it did you could get some bigger and better quality NR valves and put them on the outlet side of your pump instead of having them in the shower valves. They would open more easily when the taps are switched on.

You are also breaking water regs.

If for any reason one side of the pump decides to play up you can flood the storage tank with back flow.

Installing a pump is also notifiable, under water and building regs, obviously you haven't done either.
