Help!! My son-in-law made an extension cord for our dryer. He took a cord from a dryer and wired it to a female 220 outlet and plugged that into the existing 220 outlet is this safe? Shocked It scares me. Please answer

It is probably okay, but not the way it should properly be... it would be better to have a longer dryer cord with no extension. There would be no potential contact with water on the floor in the connection ends or possibility of the prongs wiggling out of the female extension end and would be a safer install.

Thank you. We moved the dryer back closer to the plug until we can either get a longer cord or rewire a longer cord from the box. Thank you again. It really had me scared.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting the polarity wrong when wiring electrical leads is the most common fault. I have heard a story my boss told me where multiple exteention chords where used to power a saw bench in a paddock. The first lead had Phase and neutral reversed. the second had neutral and earth reversed , meaning the saw bench that he was using became alive.

Touched the bench and killed him.

Be VERY VERY cautious when using leads that people have wired for you.

Get a electrician to check and test tag the lead for you.
