The attacking player must be in front of the defence when the ball is passed to him.
Another player could be goal side of the defence when the ball is passed which would also count as offside even though the ball was not played to him |

The rule has been changed slightly. If a player is in an offside position but NOT interfering with play (seems to be at the linesmans discretion) then play will continue. The player that was 'offside' can not then become involved in the play until he becomes 'onside' Or the Ref deems otherwise! This has led to many inconsistancies. However, you will find that the better players can expoit this rule to great effect.
Otherwise it's as you were!?! |
