We have been in this house for over 2 years. Just in the past 2-3 months a very loud noise occurs randomly, usually in the very early morning when no one is using water. The noise starts quietly, growing in intensity to the point of sounding like a fog horn. It lasts from 5 to 10 seconds. It is diffently coming from the pipes. We don't have any leaking faucets or running toilets. I have had a plumber here to inspect, and he found nothing obvious. Without being able to hear the noise, he really didn't know where to start looking.
Any clues would be helpful.
