About five years ago I received a document telling me i was sole executer of my mothers will. Since then my mothers partner has told me this is no longer the case. If what he says is true, would I not have received written notifiction from the solicitor?

Stupidly I have mislaid the original document.

You need to get in touch with the Solicitor, although I don't think it matters who is executer provided she has left a will then her wishes will be carried out.

In the case where no will is made then her estate will go to the eldest surviving next of kin.

I found the Solicitor was worth his weight in gold, and literally did everything including probate. The loss is bad enough without having to worry about sorting piles of paperwork and legal documents out, in fact I don't think I was thinking clearly to be able too.

My mother is still alive but suffering from Altzheimers. Her common law husband is saying the original will has been changed to exclude our side of the family. Given that I was named as the executor I was wondering if the will could be changed without me being informed. Because I have lost the original document I am not in a position to contact the sdolicitors.

Of course you can contact the Solicitor, yours will only be a copy. Further more if as you say your mother is suffering from Altzheimers, that the Solicitor is made aware of the fact that you will contest any changes in the will, if you are unhappy with the content.

Everything in writing please and keep a copy
