I'm decorating a downstairs toilet and put two coats of white Dulux vinyl silk (which we just happened to have) over the walls and tongue and groove wood. One wall has a lining paper under previous paint so am painting various surfaces. This paint went on fine on ALL surfaces. However I have just tried painting over this with two different Dulux kitchen and bathroom paints and both of these paints are 'slipping' off the vinyl silk and almost 'curdling' in places. Only the ceiling, on which I didn't put the vinyl silk is OK. Nothing wrong with the bathroom paint - just used it in bathroom.

Could anyone tell me if this some incompatibility problem here and if so what's the simplest way to do deal with it? Will ordinary emulsion work? Many thanks.

Thanks!

In the meantime have bought different, non bathroom, paint and soldiered on and after a lot of difficulty (problem still present but not as bad) and about three coats of paint have managed but the effect leaves something to be desired. Presumably the vinyl silk is the common denominator.
