| i was changing a single gang box to a two gang box so i could add a extra duplex plug for a customer.house is about 3 years old.very nice house in palo alto calif.i plugged in my circuit tracer went to the sub panel found the breaker the plug was on turned it off.went back the lights where off the plug was off.take off the plug and i got zapped.had two 12-2 romex in the box.checked 1st romex blk to grd with my voltage tester reads 95volts about.checked the white to grd 95 volts.i look up i see one light kinda flickering.so i turned the switch off checked the same two wires got about 50 volts now.turned the breaker back on checked the second romex in box got 120volts.checked the 1st romex blk to the second romex blk got 200 volts about.whats funny too is when it's all put back together the plug reads 120volt and the lights work just fine.i told the customer about it and recommended that it should be fixed.but everything works fine he said.this is weird! |
