Hi,

When performing the upgrade did you choose 'clean install'? If you did, then it has probably deleted all your personal files (and applications), if you did not then it may be that the files are still in your old 'my documents' folder and to find them I would recommend you choose windows->search and select *.jpg - if you see some of your pictures appear in the search then I would use windows explorer to navigate to the folder they are in and copy them to your new profile. If the music you lost is from iTunes, then the music will also be in a folder in the same kind of the location that you find your pictures.

I doubt a system restore would help you in this situation - before choosing to do this I would recommend you ask a techy friend to create backup 'image' of your current hard drive so that if it goes wrong you still may be able to recover lost photos.

There are a lot of reasons why you may not be able to see your wireless router, the most likely option is because you chose clean install when doing the upgrade the drivers for your network card have been removed/damaged and may require upgrading/replacing. Can you see a 'Local Area Connection' icon next to your computers clock? do you have a wireless diagnostic utility that came with your computer or computers wireless network card?

Maybe a bit late now and seen as rubbing salt into an open wound BUT the best advise available is ALWAYS backup important files before carrying out any major upgrading of computer systems.

Operating System upgrades is almost the most major of major upgrades so always backup before doing it!!

A CD, or similar backup, should always be kept of important files. Hard drives have a habit of failing every so often and whilst there are data recovery firms this work is expensive.
