Hi
We are having a gas fire removed soon and this is on our outside wall. As a result, we will obviously have a small whole in the wall.
What type of cement/sand will I need for the bricks and will this be a standard 1 : 5 ratio mixture
Regards |

| 1-5 is fine, don't forget you will need a vent in the opening, which could be on the outside, and seal/waterproof the top. |

Hi]
Thanks for your reply. Why and where will we need a vent. I thought if we were taking the fire out, we would just need a brick for the inside and outside walls, and the breeze block. What is the vent required for |

Thescruff is probably thinking the fire is fitted in a chimney.
If it is then you need to have ventillation otherwise you are liable to get staining on inside walls due to damp |

Thanks guys, yes, you are correct in saying that this is just a direct wall connection and not a chimney. Maybe I should have mentioned this before!!
Thanks for the advise |
