Hi
We are having a gas fire removed soon and this is on our outside wall. As a result, we will obviously have a small whole in the wall.

What type of cement/sand will I need for the bricks and will this be a standard 1 : 5 ratio mixture

Regards

1-5 is fine, don't forget you will need a vent in the opening, which could be on the outside, and seal/waterproof the top.

Thescruff is probably thinking the fire is fitted in a chimney.

If it is then you need to have ventillation otherwise you are liable to get staining on inside walls due to damp

Thanks guys, yes, you are correct in saying that this is just a direct wall connection and not a chimney. Maybe I should have mentioned this before!!

Thanks for the advise
