Hi again
I need a little more information from you:
1) Which of your PC's is the live box connected to - XP or Vista?
2) Did you buy a wireless adapter from Orange for the PC that you didn't connect the Live Box to? and if not, what is the make/model of the wireless card you are using?
3) You said you can see the live box from your wireless pc, is it listed as 'security enabled' or not?
4) On the computer that has your wireless card/motherboard in it, can you please click on the windows Start button and type SERVICES.MSC, a program called 'Services' will open up, could you make sure the list is sorted z-a on the 'Name' column (just click it until the sort order is reversed) and then near the top you will see an entry called 'Wireless Zero Configuration', does this entry currently have a status of 'Started' and is it configured for the 'Automatic' startup type?
Cheers, Nick |

This board is for your questions, you certainly aren't being a pest!
Ok, one more question:
Have you at any point had to enter a WEP key when attempting to connect your Windows XP PC to the Live Box? And if yes, did you push the special pairing (1) or (2) button on the side of your Live Box prior to attempting to connect? - apparently your Live Box is fitted with a 'pairing' button to ensure you have complete control over who you give permission to access your internet connection through the Live Box. Having had a quick google for others with your problem, it seems some of them were successful in connecting a wireless computer by going into the Live Box control panel and disabling WEP and then re-enabling WEP, perhaps you could try that too? |

On your wireless PC, does it connect but you just can't access the internet? If so, find out what the IP address of your Live Box is and attempt to PING it from the Wireless PC using these instructions:
1) click on the windows Start button and select RUN.
2) type CMD and press enter
3) a black window opens up, within it type the followign substituting the ### with the IP address of your Live Box (including the dots between groups of numbers) PING ###.###.###.###
Tell me if this command results in you seeing 4 entries which state they are 'REPLIES' or whether you received 4 'TIME OUTS'.
Also, list the INTERNAL IP address of your Live Box, and the IP address of your wireless PC, from the black window above, type IPCONFIG, this will give you the IP address your wireless computer is using - giving me the INTERNAL IP address of your Live Box and the IP Address of your Wireless computer does not compromise the security of your internet connection. |

(I modified your previous post to remove your external IP address, it could be considered a bit dodgey to have that one exposed to the planet)
Media Disconnected means that your wireless card has not connected to a device yet to communicate wirelessly with (why don't I tell you something you don't know eh!?).
Is it possible for you to hardwire your XP pc to your Live Box so that you can get internet access to it temporarily? - If so, providing you are not objectionable to it, I can connect to your PC remotely and have a look what might be causing it. I have PM'd you some instructions if this is ok. |

Are you using a wired or wireless connection on her computer?

Susan
You make no mention regarding the suggestions I made in my post immediatly above yours. I could reveal important info and maybe a simple answer.
Use a wired connection, if possible, and can you access the livebox control panel. If not, when using wired connection, it could be so simple as the drivers for that computers network connection need to be loaded! |
