Hi
My Mum died when I was 12 and I lived with my father until I was 18. In that time several other relatives died such as my paternal grandmother and great aunts and uncles on my father's side. I have since fallen out with my father but I am wondering if I was left any moeny by those relatives who died (including my mother). Does anyone know how I would go about doing this? Do I have to trace and read all the wills of these people?

Dear Rachel
I am no lawyer, but do family history & have sent for several wills.
If you search google
This is the html version of the file http://www.york.ac.uk/inst/bihr/guideleaflets/ProbateRecords_wheretofind.pdf
From what I remember they need the name & date & place of death.
If your Mam & Dad were still together when she died it is not uncommon for wife to leave everything to husband & viceverca.
I hope you are not disappointed as I was left £2000 by my father in 1952 but his parents didn`t get on with my mother so I didn`t get it, as they were his executors.
Good hunting

Thanks Jon
That's sad story as I'm sure £2000 in 1952 is worth a great sum today. I guess you've looked into going down the legal route to recover your money?
Thanks for the advice about my situation... I'll look into the matter further...
