I've had my walls replastered. They were first sealed with thinned PVA and then had a coat of cheap white emulsion (which did look streaky). I've now had one coat of Farrow & Ball Estate Emulsion applied and it covers in most places, but there are little splots and patches where the paint appears not to have taken. Sad

If you rub your fingers over it the patches are slightly indented. Has anyone any idea as to the problem? Is the PVA stopping the paint sticking to the wall? Will more coats of paint do the trick or should the patches be rubbed down with fine sandpaper? Any advice would be most welcome.

We have recently decorated over lots of new plaster but were told that you should not use PVA to seal it - just a thinned coat of emulsion (a miss coat) or a proprietry plaster sealant (more expensive and no better). However, you could try this as you have already used PVA: We had some spots in the kitchen where emulsion was not taking properly and funny spots were showing (due we think to some floor tile adhesive having splashed up during tiling). We cured it by covering those spots with a special high pigment paint that prevents things like old water stains from coming through. That seemed to do the trick and having painted over it again it now looks perfect. Good luck!
