Hi
Ive got a optima xm alarm fitted in a home ive just moved into it was working ok when was first in but now when i put in the code to set the alarm it just continues to carry on a beeping tone rather than putting the alarm on after the usual 30 seconds it is meant to come on at ?
Its not a wireless alarm and i have tampered with it the company who made it no longer seem to exist i tried searching for them but no luck and the tech support number thats on the alarm is a deadline tone now ...
Anyone help please |

No what they say about little fingers.
Ask a few of your local alarm fitters there's a good chance they fitted this model.
I willask a few questions as well.

Goto 'http://www.instruction-manuals.co.uk/category/MISCELLA/optima.pdf' for instruction manual of your panel.
If you do a google search on optima alarms you will be given lists of distributors so I would have thought manufacturers have just moved.
I have a CPC catalogue for 2003 and they are listed. A phone call to them might result in them giving you their current number. They are on 0870 120 2531.

Just reread your original post which says you tampered with it! Does this mean you removed the cover? In what way otherwise.
What you are getting is a signal to tell you that if you were able to set alarm it would immediatly be in alarm condition.
If you removed the cover have a look to see if the anti-tamper switch on the cover is operating. Also what type of trigger points do you have? One of these might be faulty or not set correctly.
Trigger points are normally wired using 4 core cable. 2 for alarm 2 anti-tamper. Check these wires back at the panel. If you can identify the anti-tamper pair at the box link them accross and lets know what happens.
You can also link the trigger wires to see if it is them causing the 'alarm' condition. If it is the 6 zone version isolate each zone in turn to test. If you have a panic button don't forget to check this also.
The anti-tamper loop is effectivly a loop of wire joining the two anti-tamper terminals in the control box. So a break in this loop will give rise to an alarm situation and the continuous bleeps you get. Likewise the trigger cable

The alarm has 4 zones 1 on the door where as opening the door sets it off and 2 motion detectors so there is actually 3 though 4 on the alarm availble It was installed in the house im in before i moved in so i dont know why the 4th remaining zone never was wired up to a detector though |

in that case it should be a simple elimination problem as per the instructions.
Or reset it to the factory settings.
