i have a subaru impreza turbo that makes a noise when its icy cold 0 degrees. it sounds like a worn water pump bearing or loose belt tensioner. it only makes the noise when freezing and it lasts for about 2 mins then goes. my local subaru garage hasn't had the chance to listen to a cold start as i can't get in there when its that cold as yet.
any ideas ? |

| I wonder if that's what some mechanics call "Mooseing". It's just a noise like a moose braying and lasts for a couple of mins as the pipes and engine block fully warm up. Does it completely disappear when the engine warms up? |

hello dave
thanks for reply.
yes its really odd cause it only happens when very cold and the noise goes completely after a couple of minutes as you say when warm.
would my subaru garage understand the "mooseing" i ve never heard of it!
i imagine then that you can't do anything about it?
My car runs fine and i ve had no problems "yet".
any way thanks for the response i didn't think anyone would reply.
cheers ian |
