I flush the toilet, standard u-bend etc., immediately before leaving for work each day.
By the time I get home, the water level in the u-bend has dropped so low that I can smell the sewer.

There is NO pool of water around the toilet pan.
There is no leak that I can see.

Logically, the only other ways I can think of for water to escape is by:
a) evaporation
b) increase in pressure on on my side, or
c) decrease in pressure on the down-pipe side.

I live on the second floor of a block of flats.

Have you any suggestions?
All I can think of to to return home at lunch time for an emergency flush!

Hi,

Couple of points to check.

Is there an open vent in the soil pipe.

Does the water lever rise quite high when you flush.

Is there anything stuck in the outlet of the pan such as a sanitary towel.

If its a rented flat is it your problem.
