I have a 'Boulter Buderos' oil fired boiler. It is a fully pumped open vented system with a 3 port valve and is about 4 years old. It has been running without any problems.

My problem started when the overheat thermost kept cutting in and water overflowed from the F&E tank. I had the boiler checked by Boulter and they stated that the boiler was ok and that there must be a problem on the rest of the system. I don' know how old the rest of the system is.

I have de- sludged the system but the problem persists.

When I check the F&E tank the water is to the top and is warm.

This overflow is not a great deal and only seems to happen in the mornings after the boiler has been on for about an hour. In the evenings I have to reset the overheat thermostat andall evening there is no problem

The pump and the diverter valve have been checked and appear to be working O.K

I wonder if you could give this some thought and advise me as to what the problem may be and my next course of action

What model is it.

Does it play up in the hot water mode as well

The modle is a Camray 5--65/90A.I have again flushed the sytem throug
h which to me was pretty clear, no heavy staining of the water.
'Tried the system out in H?W only and no problem. I ran it in cojunction with the C/H for about one hour and switched the heating off leaving just the H/W control on by the clock. After about 10 mins I saw hot water and steam being pumped into the F&E tank via the vent pipe. The tank filled and the excess water went out of the overflow. This was not a great amount, but I am once again left with a tank full of very warm water.

Where the hell does this excess of water come from?

I can not see any discolouration of the water at any taps in the bungalow.

I did hear in the boiler what appeared to be rushing and gurgling sound after I had turned off the C/H. Steam possibly?

Check the boiler thermostat or just change it they are cheap enough. I've changed several on the Camray 5 range for overheating problems.
