when i run any of the hot water taps in the house i hear a whining noise. it sometimes stops after turning the tap on and off again but other times it goes on for upto 5 or 10 minutes. does this mean that there is air in the pipes and if so how do i get rid of it. thanx.

Track it down to the ballvalve in the storage tank and change it.
