Hi there, wondering if anyone can help.
I've just bought a portable DVD player from ebay which only after I won the item noticed the buyer had written they no longer have the adaptor. I thought it wouldn't be a problem as had one that I use for another portable DVD I already have. When plugging it it in i noticed that the charge light did not come on, took it back out and emailed the seller to enquire. They said that it need a 2000 mAH. I checked the adaptor I used but it was only 1250mAH. I have now purchased the correct one and it still does not charge. She has now told me that is my fault for using the wrong adaptor (which was only used for seconds before dissconecting)
Please can you let me know if using this adaptor would have blown the player even though it had played perfectly until the current charge had run down.
Many thanks |

It could be that the new adapter you have got is the wrong polarity for the player, most are centre pin positive but check on the label on the DVD player it should say.

Thanks Vince.
The adaptor I tried at first was definately the wrong one as was only 1250mA as just bought one which said was suitable for these portable DVD's not knowing about all these different types really. I only plugged it in for seconds and they're telling me that as it wasn't strong enough to power it that it probably blew it and I can't have a refund. So I was really just wondering if the low powered adaptor could ruin it within seconds or are they just trying it on. Because I'd have thought that the DVD wouldn't have played at all if it had blown. It played until the charge they had on it already run out so I cant see it have being blown.
Is there anyway I can get it tested to see if that's the case. |

You could have quite possibly blown the new power supply due to it being to small as you would have overloaded it.
It can be tested if you have a meter to hand

I've bought the new adaptor now which is definately the correct one. But it still dont work so the ebay seller told me that I must have blown the player because of trying to power it with a smaller power supply and say it cannot be returned becasue of that. So it's just such a waste of money. I hadn't used the thing once. Thanks for your help Vince.. |

It may have just popped a diode inside if the polarity was wrong, could be a cheap fix. |
