dodgy rad?

I’ve had a new boiler installed 2 weeks ago, it’s a combi Worcester Bosch Greenstar 28i junior. it's been working ok, then yesterday I noticed the room thermostat, whihch is set to 23 degrees, was struggling to go up & had stopped at 20 degrees.

One of the radiators in the room was lukewarm, so thought it could be a balance problem, turned dow a couple of rads and put the dodgy one on maximum. It heated up within half an hour and was as hot as all the other rads and the room thermostat went up to 21 degrees. Let the heating on all night and this morning woke up to find the thermostat STILL at 21 degrees and the lukewarm rad STILL lukewarm tho it’s on maximum!

Any ideas????

1. is the radiator big enough?
2. how drafty is the house? is all the heat flying out the windows?
3. is the heating on long enough?
4. is the boiler stat on a high enough setting?
5. does the radiator have a thermostat?
6. is the room thermostat near a draft? could be in the wrong place.

not very - radiator away from windows

it's been on Constant for the past few days

yes - on maximum

No


the rad's now completely cold - I think the valve's gone.

Check and open the lockshield valve a turn. Turn the lockshield valve on all the hot rads down a turn.

Remove the thermostatic head and check the pin is free to go up and down, give it a squirt of WD40.

Leave the head off and see if the radiator gets hot.
