This new act comes into play on 6 April 2008. I work for Royal Mail and there are rumours flying round about how it will affect those posties that use their own private cars, but are not paid for it, on their rounds. Will Royal Mail now be held responsible if the postie has an accident in his car and the car is later found to be defective in some way. (Ie MOT failure, not serviced regularly etc) Will they also be held liable if the posties insurance does not cover business travel, or if the postie is either unlicensed or does not hold the correct licence.

Sorry for the long question but I am a Moderator on a Postal Forum and no one seems to have any idea how it will affect us.

Grateful for any pointers. Also more than willing to answer any Royal Mail questions that I can.
