You might need to phone Acer on this.
There is often a link that you change over to reset the Bios to its default values and also reset the passwords.
What make of bios is fitted and version number? Might then be worth a visit to their website to see if they have a default sepervisor password set. |

Hi,
Grab the manual for your motherboard and find the CLEAR CMOS jumper on your mother which may be a little 'jumper' you need to connect two pins together on your motherboard or a little switch box which you flip ON and then power on and then off your computer and then flip the switch back or remove the jumper and then restart your PC - this clears the CMOS, the CMOS is a chip which contains volatile storage, i.e. the contents of it can be written/erased and the data on it is often maintained by a battery - so if you can't find a CMOS clear switch on your motherboard I would then look for the small disk shaped battery on your motherboard which is almost certainly keeping the CMOS charged so that it doesn't lose your BIOS settings.
If you choose to remove the battery (because you can't find the clear cmos switch) then you will need to make sure you computer isn't plugged into the mains (make sure the power lead is completely removed from the wall, it is not enough to switch off the computer at the front using the PC on/off switch because the motherboard remains powered up) and leave the battery out for an hour or so, pressing the power button on the front of your pc when you have unplugged the mains lead will help to disipate any power in your motherboard that may be being held in capacitors.
If you successfully erase the CMOS using either of these methods then be prepared to have to manually enter BIOS settings to make it aware of the hardware you have in your computer if it is a few years old because it is unlikely it will be able to automatically reconfigure itself.
EDIT: The manual for your laptop can be found here:
http://mapserver2.ujep.cz/tmp/acer/acer_manual_tm240_250sg.pdf
See page 4, (motherboard layout) and component #3 (SW1) this 4 switch connector block is in charge of the BIOS password, page 110 shows a table that says switch #1 of 4 should be switched OFF to disable the password.
If switching this off doesn't work for you, I can see from the manual that the bios is provided by Phoenix, and typically the back door password for these is 'phoenix' or 'PHOENIX'
Cheers
