Crying or Very sad Hi. My son bought a whirlpool tub at a garage sale and intends to have it installed in the new home he is having built. He & my husband have been working on it for two days now and have encountered a problem. The tub has a broken fitting for one of the jets. My son said he didn't care if the jet is functional or not, so my husband bypassed it with pvc pipe. The problem is, how can he fix the jet so that when the tub is full, the water won't back up into the jet and leak? He was just going to stuff the opening of the jet with tons of silicone caulking, but I'm not sure this will work. First of all, is there a product that can be used on pvc to seal a crack in it? I thought if they can just cap off the ends of the fitting that is no longer being used and somehow melt the pvc where the crack is, then if water backs up into the jet, it still won't be able to leak out from behind the tub. Son has been to several tub/spa places but they say without knowing the model number and manufacturer, they wouldn't be able to get a replacement fitting. That's why they decided to bypass it. The builder is holding up mudding and tiling the bath, waiting for this tub. We are in need of suggestions like yesterday. Any help would be sincerely appreciated! Thanks! Peggie
