Planning to convert our garage into a study. The garage is linked on both sides by our house and the next door neighbour. The roof is not flat it is apex type so it imitates the roof shape of the house.

Questions:

planning to line the walls with plaster board: is there a type of plaster board that you dont need to plaster over? What is it called? What size timber should I use as battens to attach the plaster board.

At one end of the garage I am planning to build a stud wall: what sized timber should I use for the framework? Would stud wall and ceiling boarding with loft insulation provide enough insulation for the room?

The plaster board you want is tapered edge, you will still need to fill the taper with a jointing strip and filler and then sand down(ask your merchant for the correct filler and strip), 50mm*50mm (2 inch by 2inch) timber would be ample.

Stud walls are built using 75mm*50mm (3inch by 2inch)
Fibre glass loft insulation would be fine.
