The floor under my hot water heater is rotten so I need to replace it. I am wondering what exactly this will entail. Will I need to cut out the rotten floor somehow, or can I just lay a new subfloor right over the existing floor? Is this something that I should hire someone to do or can I just find someone that is handy to help me with it?
*a bit of information, relevant or not* I live in a 70s mobile home, and the water heater access is located on the outside wall of the home.

You will need to remove every bit of the rotted floor and replace it.

Then check if the water heater is leaking otherwise all your work will be in vain.
