I have just moved into a new flat, and the previous owners installed a brand new kitchen around an old gas cooker that is 500mm in depth. Need new oven, but they only make 600mm now. What could i do as it would protrude to much if i had to get the 600mm size as i have a very small kitchen to start with? The kichen is too small to reconfigure, plus i dont want to rip out a brand new kitchen just to get in a modern sized cooker?

Behind the current cooker there is some worktop space about 4 cm, which hides the gas piping that protrudes, i could cut that bit of worktop out and push the new size cooker in so far, however, is there any legal requirements of how close the gas piping can be to the back of the gas cooker?
