im ganna be pointiing a wall out side my house, what mix is best? sand/cement? wet/dry?

Hi snoopy, five parts building sand(soft) to one part cement is ample.
Mix enough of the the sand and cement together to last the whole day or to complete the wall you are pointing (this will give you a consistent colour match) but dont add water to all of it, half fill a clean bucket with the dry mix of sand and cement and add water until you have a fairly dry but workable mix, mixing to wet could leave a smear on the bricks if you are a beginner. You can add small amounts of water to the mix as it dries out in your bucket. |

thats fantasic, i couldnt ask 4 more....
one more thing tho...lol
the bricks and surrounding pointing is black can i colour the mix or sould i paint it afterward? |

If the bricks have been painted it would be best to re paint after pointing.
You can also buy a cement dye that is available in most colour's if you dont think the brickwork needs re painting, ask at your local merchants for "cementone cement die" I have used black dye before so I know it's available. |
