Hi all,
I'm about to install a shower cubicle in a bedroom alcove. The existing walls are plasterboard over timber studwork. The walls will need packing out slightly to fit the tray. Therefore, would the concensus be to (1) fit an extra layer of plasterboard and PVA it before tiling, or (2) use marine ply, or (3) Aquapanel?
I shall also need some uPVC clad-effect panneling for the shower ceiling - any suggestions as to make/brand/supplier? shower will be 1100 x 700mm.
Thanks... |

I prefer marine ply as it gives you a nice back board for fixing any fittings too.
Aquapanel would be my second choice.
The ceiling you can do more or less what you like provided you have a good extract fan |

Thanks for reply.
My main concern was whether plywood was liable to expand and contract with climate / season, and thus crack the grout and let in water.
Regards,

Marine ply is fine and have used it many times without a problem, it is after all waterproof in it's own right.
I always use screws and not nails, and always seal the tray prior to tiling and again after tiling |
