it just takes while for my toilet to fill up and it's really quite noisey. I was wondering if i can open a valve or something to make it fill up faster.

is there any chance of this, or do they take ages to fill up for a reason?

Normal reasons for slow filling is either the washer has to some extent decomposed and no longer comming far enough away from the nozzle. The nozzle itself is partially blocked or, normally only if it has always done this, the wrong size nozzle has been fitted.

Simplest solution is to replace the complete ballvalve with an equilibrum type of which Torbec is one make of this type.
