| Live in a Modular home approx 4 years old with septic. Have 2 full baths. In the smaller bathroom the toilet, only when flushed and for a couple minutes after flushing, has that rotten egg smell come out of it. This bathroom is only used a couple of times per week. No other drain, sink, or toilet has the smell. We have never had the tank pumped(cleaned). We do use RID - X once a month for the last 6 months. I have been told that it may be a reaction to the rid -x. But why only that one toilet? Also been told that the little blue cleaning tablets you put in the toilet to get that pretty blue water, if left in there with little flushing can cause an odor. Maybe I need to have the Septic cleaned out? Could any of these be possible? If so what is a ball park charge for the septic to be cleaned 1500 gal. tank? Thank you for your help in advance. Mike |

If you only get smell from the one toilet and assuming all other toilets feed the same septic without any intervening water traps, apart from those in the respective toilet pans, then you are left with a break or crack in the pipe, damaged toilet pan, of wax ring/seal where the pan joins the main pipe.
Even if it was a reaction to anything put down that particular toilet if the pipework etc was air tight you would have no smell regardless of any smell existing in the pipe. The pan water trap would see to that.

For your information, chemicals of any sort should not be allowed to enter a septic tank, as it kills the micro-bacteria that is an essencial part of the breaking down process.
