|
|
my parents own a small business and we've lived above it for the past 15 years.
we haven't had an inspection in all that time!!!!!
we asked an electrician for a free visual inspection and he said that the fuse box/ consumer unit was really old, probably 1960s!!! and there are black wires and everything the house has to be rewired i think...
we're almost broke so can't afford to rewire the house, so i want to know if there is a possibilty that our house can still pass a periodic inspection so we can still carry on working.
will the inspection lead to us being forced to rewire the house?
what exactly happens during a periodic inspection? will it be just for the business part of our house or the entire house?
how much does a periodic inspection usually cost? i've been quoted from £90 to £200! it's a small terraced house (if this helps)
if anyone can answer some of these questions i'll be so greatful |

As a plumber I haven't a clue to your answer but,
Wiring over 40 year old will be in a poor to bad condition and need to be replaced.
Do not expect it to pass.
