Hello
Just wanted to see if anyone could help me on this one. I have had 3 ceasareans 1st one emergency my first son was 12lb 11oz Shocked and clearly wasn't going anywhere! My second son was elective as he was also going the same way born 2 weeks early weighing 9lb 7oz(tiny!!) Consequently my daughter was also born 2 weeks early via C section and weighed 8lb 10oz(teeny tiny!!) However on my daughters birth(she is now 8 wks old) they discovered on the operating table she was breech and it all got a bit frantic as she was stuck in an awkward position and they had to get her out quickly. I'm guessing this is how and why she sustained a fracture to her femur. Am delighted she was otherwise perfect and healthy in everyway however am quite traumaed that the fracture was not diagnosed immediately. I had asked Midwife about the way she was holding her leg and was brushed aside as paranoid new mummy being told "babies don't straighten themselves out immediately" Myself my husband and our 4 day old baby ended up in the emergency dept at hospital 18 hrs after discharge where x rays showed a broken femur. She was placed in a cast. I am being told by the hospital it is a common occurence re the fracture however am yet to find a healthcare professional who has come across it?? Yes they have come across broken arms/shoulders but not the thigh bone. I have no idea if my daughter will have any lasting affects from this injury? Can anyone help me I feel out of my depth and no one to ask questions to Sad
Appreciate any comments
Thanks in advance.
