Okay, I have a question that I realise is virtually impossible to answer, but I thought I would post it all the same...
I live in the North East and am thinking about relocating to the South/South West. I know that I won't get a house anywhere near the size I have up here for the same sort of money and so I'm thinking about having one built. My question is this: if a house cost, say, £250,000 to buy, is there a guesstimate as to how much it would cost to self-build?
I realise that this is like asking how long a piece of string is, but I figured there might be a rough guide as to how much cheaper it is to self-build.
Any advice... or scorn or contempt for such a stupid question? |

Its the ground that costs the money down this part of the world.
Building cost I think someone said was £1500-2000 per meter cube, whatever there is a figure |

Many thanks. This gives me something to work on. I knew someone would know how long the piece of string was! |
