Hello, I have just bought an alarm from pyronix sterling 10, the wiring of the alarm is straight forward! I have good manuals and even a video tape, The only thing is It doesn't tell me anything about the ac mains wiring, I know a little about electrics just confidence lacking really I can rewire sockets, lightings ect. But what I was wondering is I don't know if you are familar at all with the pyronix sterling 10 but you can hide the actual alarm box out the way and you control the whole system through a remote lcd keypad, Now I have a attic in there is a big fan (extracter) I think? It's massive and it has it's own power supply I tested it to see if it was live and it is!, Could I connect the alarm to that power supply? and disconnect that big fan will it be okay?, all I can tell you is that power box is like a socket but without the pin holes it houses a switch and a fuse, Does an alarm need a 5 amp independant fuse I have a circuit breaker would I have to connect it separately to that?, I think the power box in the attic runs off the lighting circuit ring. Please advise Thankyou.

Read the next topic on alarms, to avoid nuisance tripping its best to have a dedicated connection.

The fuse rating will be with your instructions and shouldn't be exceeded.

Most alarms have a 12v battery back up.
