I have a house alarm fitted by an electrician when the bungalow was renovated. I do not set the alarm at night, but if I get up in the night, and switch on a light, then the alarm is activated, and the panel shows 'tamper' !!
Is this due to a voltage drop momentarily as the switch is activated, causing the alarm to activate ?
I have a sneaking suspicion that the alarm is wired into the lighting cicuit in the house, is this the correct method, or should it be on its own circuit, if so, what should the amperage of the circuit breaker be ? If this is indeed the case, could this be the reason that the alarm is activated by a light switch ? |

Talking to others the standard is to connect direct to the board with a dedicated circuit thats fused 5amps.
The rating would however depend on the installation requirements, the control panel, PIR etc are normally 12Volts with a battery back up.
Perhaps your electrician should check it out, or explain hows it's wired.
