Hi, We signed a fixed contract with the builder for a second story extension on a small house. The approved plans were for 1.2 meters for the foundation but the building controls insp came round and said they had to be 2 meters due to a neighbours tree, this additional work our builder has said would cost 2500 punds which we feel is very steep - is there anyway this cost could have been avoided? Could the builder have waited for the building insp to come before he started digging? We are just shocked of this additional cost as we are in the first week of the build!!
Thankyou |

No he wouldnt have known about the problem untill the dig was started.
The cost however is exorbitant even if they have to dig by hand, or have they got to infill twice as much concrete.
get a break down of the extra work and talk to the builder, remember he will be there for a while and you dont want to get off on the wrong foot |
