I have to find the one word simple subject and verb for the following 2 sentences. Any help would really be appreciated as I am having difficulty.

1. Over the violins came the shrill sound of the flutes.

2. There had been a delay of several weeks.

For 1, I was thinking that violins would be the subject but I am not sure about the verb.
For number 2, I was thinking either "there" or "been" is the subject and delay is the verb.
