I have stuff coming out of my waste vent, Water, toilet paper, etc. use you imagination.

I would like to unclog the main but all the traps are frozen. Can you tell me the best way to loosen these trap covers. Also what can I expect if I do get them open, will it shoot all over the place. There are 4 traps, 1 just before the septic system, 1 on each side of a u-schaped pipe and one in a down-pointed pipe. This is how it's laid out going away from the septic system.

I plan to rent a electric snake from the local tool renter. Anything else I would need?

I'd appreciate any suggestions. They want to charge me $300 to unclogg the main.

Unless you can rod from above the flood level ( the highest Outlet ) or before the blockage ( from an outside inspection chamber ) then you will be joining the effluent society.

This is one of my pet hates and I avoid it at all cost.

300 bucks sounds very reasonable to me but then I don,t like getting my hands and feet dirty.

Can you get someone on a hourly rate, job should only take an hour or two.
