Hi! I have a three heat zone home in NH. We have forced hot water.
The other day, I turned the water in the master bath sink and it came out all brown. I let it run and it cleaned itself out. This morning I noticed it was very cold throughout the house (Yes, I know it's winter but we also heat two zones with a pellet stove) so I turned up the thermostat and noticed right away that the oil burner did not come on. So I went and reset it and noted that heat came through zones 1 and 2 but not 3.
At the same time, I tried to run the water in the master bath sink (is in zone 3) and there is no water at all; but there is water in the shower and the toilet. So, like, what gives? At first I was scared that a pipe has frozen (it has been mighty cold here - zero degrees on some nights) but it doesn't seem that way. After all, the pipes coming into the master bath are all basically coming in from the same exact origin - so why would two out of three areas of water dispersion work and not the one? And why would we be able to heat the other two zones but not the third?
And, here's my final question - who do we call - a plumber or the oil company who work on our boiler?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
