Hi Sylvia,
I don't know why they have opted for open rather than keyhole surgery.
my gallbladder was infected and I had 1 stone about the size of a large pea. They removed my gallbladder via keyhole surgery. This was 6 years ago now. The recovery was pretty quick - 2 weeks, but it took about a year for my body to readjust fully.
Although I was told I could go back to eating a normal diet I find that I can't eat as much fat as I used to - as I now put on weight very easily, so try for about 50g a day (70g is the recommended amount for women).
I hope this helps! and don't worry gallstones / gallbladder problems are very common is western cultures! |
