Does the cooker that I'm looking at fitting in the kitchen need to have it's own fuse in the consumer unit, or can I connect it to the kitchen ring through a fused switch?

'Does the cooker that I'm looking at fitting in the kitchen' you can see the cooker but unfortunatly I cannot! So what type is it? small baby one or a standard kitchen one with electric hotplates and electric oven or a gas cooker just needing electric for ignition and maybe a light?

Also no location is given, the idea being so that when we answer queries we have some idea what part of the world you are in and so answer accordingly. (Well thats the theory!).

Sorry, I thought that this was UK based only. I'm looking at installing an electic built-under single oven, and a gas hob (supply already in). This will be in London.

Oven needs a dedicated isolating switch supplied by its own fuse, or mcb, in the consumer unit.

Most of those answering questions are UK based, as I am, however there are quite a few questions posed by USA & Canada residents, so try to make sure as their regulations are different.
