That's what my PC does all the time, I thought the mobo battery was running down so I bought some new ones and replaced the original, but the PC still beeps every now and again, no particular pattern, and it's annoying when one doesn't know why!
But I know there are a lot of clever people out there reading this and hopefully someone will tell me what the Bleep to do.
Thanks in anticipation...............Dai. [Hi Nick, hope all is well with you and yours] |

Nick hasn't been on for a while as he's very busy.
We have covered the topic somewhere, because mine started beeping, in my case it was telling me it couldn't find the keyboard. |

| Is it just a plain bleep or is there a sequence such as bleep, bleep, pause, bleep, bleep etc as during the BIOS POST sequence this is the way errors are reported. The number of bleeps indicating the problem encountered. |

Hi Alan, it's weird, coz it bleeps when the PC is switched off too. There is no sequence either, just a single bleep, seems to do it when it feels like it!! I have replaced the MOBO battery, so its not because its running down. Dai |

Hi all. guess what? twas not the PC at all. twas the Belkin anti surge plugs thingy. we must have had an electric storm a while ago.
I was putting in a new DVD writer and the PC was unplugged yet the ruddy BEEP was still there.
I have it situated behind the desk on the floor. so it sounded as if the beep was coming from the PC.
I replaced the Belkin and now the problem is solved.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.
Cheers.....Dai. |

Did you purchase a replacement or did Belkin supply one under their guarantee? |

Hi, it wasn't a Belkin as such, one I bought from Screwfix. but I bought a genuine Belkin from Comets which has the warranty for millions of quids!!
Where we live, we get lots of power cuts and most of the inhabitants have the occasional spike.
Our power supply arrives via a pole in the garden, and the straining wire, which stops the pole from leaning over, is situated in the adjoining field, and the cows like to rub up against it, consequently, the cables swing back and forth and actually touch each other, and BANG. there goes another fuse in the transformer box. The Western Power gangs are always doing something
up the poles.
Thanks for the interest anyway, Dai |
