I put my old refrigerator in the garage and plugged it into a 15 amp line. It worked for a while but kciked off the gfi outlet next to my box in the basement. The circuit breaker never turned off--just the gfi outlet. It consistantly shuts the outlet off not the circuit breaker. Should I just replace the GFI outlet or upgrade to a 20 amp breaker or both?

Do not put a 20 amp breaker in as the circuit is sized for the 15 amp and you could cause a fire. That is not the problem any way. There is a ground fault somewhere that the gfi is picking up or it is a bad gfi plug.
