Hi guys, no hot water at all thought it was 2 port valve, replaced it and still nothing.
Have a Potterton-Kingfisher MF boiler.
Two honeywell 2 port valves.
New header tank.
Thermo clicks on and off ,opening and closing the valve at the tank. But the boiler does not turn on nor does the pump when i put the hot water on.
Central heating is fine all rads are hot.
Drained the system down and noticed the water ,on what i believe to be the return to the boiler was still in the pipe when i renewed the valve.
The pipe going into the hot water tank was hot on initial checking (before valve renewall) now both in and out are stone cold ! Its doing me nut in.
Have since totaly filled the system and added 2ltrs of Sentinel X400.
Do i have a blockage? If so any suggestions pls

Lateral thinking dear poster
Think, the pump or boiler don't come on.
You can play with the water as much as you like, but it ain't gonna work till the pump goes round.
You need to start checking the sparky bits.
Cylinder stat, programmer, fuses, loose cables etc |

The problem isn't with the heating read what I posted above. |

Wiring that connects the thermostat to the pump is fine, so i should check the wiring at the boiler and programmer ?

The programmer sends a signal to the stat, the stat opens the valve and sends a signal to the boiler and pump.
Somewhere along the lines that isn't happening. |

Tell me more about the set-up.
Is the system sealed or open vented.
Have you got the integral programmer or an remote one.
Hpw did you get the pump to work. |

Right pump and boiler work fine for bother heating and hot water, still no hot water both pipes in and out of tank (top one T`s with overflow/exspansion) are still stone cold .
Programmer is a Honey well ST 7100
Both the pump and boiler kicked in when things cooled down . |

Ok, done that, water seeps out of that.Compression fitting thank goodness.
Have also put hotwater on when all is cold, the boiler and pump are fine, and opened central heating valve manualy so i know for sure that part is heating and pumping ok, soon as i shut the C/H valve it all grinds to a halt.
Do i need to blast back through the vent/exspansion pipe ? To clear the blockage .This seems like the only part of the system left to sort.
This system (the pipework-all other items are nearly new) dates back to the early 70`s. |

I get more and more worried about this every time you post.
The valve on the cylinder, is that existing or something you've added.
This vent pipe on the cylinder, where is it in relation to the valve.
What exactly have you done so far.
Photo please, before you get into anymore problems. |

The valve on the cylinder is a replacement for the original (like for like) direction etc the same. Thought that was the problem, but no.Have had the old one checked that was ok-
The vent/exspasion pipe is on a compression fitting T at the top feed of the heating coil. Cracked it open water comes out. The valve is at the bottom end were the water goes down. This is all getting water when i fill the system up.
So the only logical solution is a blockage between the central heating valve (2 port) to the heating coil in the tank.
Have fitted new valve, drained system and with the valve off and a hose fitted to take waste away blown back carefully from the drain cock at the boiler via a hose fitted to the outside tap, water flows that way.
So next thing to do is rip up the floor and cut the in feed pipe and check it the same way.
The water in the tank has slowly got colder over the last week so reduced flow in that part of the sytem is now totaly blocked.I assume |
