heating was working, but a couple of rads upstairs felt as though they needed bleeding. the hissing of air was air being sucked in. now heating is off as pump makes a racket, as there is more air in the system now.
what can i do?any advice appreciated.

It sounds like its not filling properly from the header tank. Which could be due to an airlock or a blocked cold feed.

How competent are you because you could try backfilling the system to remove any blockage or an airlock

You want to get it sorted sooner really because it can push water outthe vent into the header tank ands you can risk pulling air back in that way. At least I think.

Scruff im sure will correct if i'mwrong
