Hi
I have an modern electric chimney style stainless steel extractor hood. It came supplied with a three pin plug attached to it with a 3amp fuse inside.
I did have an old extractor hood which has been ripped out to be replaced by new one above. The old one was wired directly into what looks like a light switch fitting. This light switch fitting did not have a fuse, the hood was wired directly into the circuit. There is only one circuit cable coming into this fitting and it looks to me like it is the lighting circuit supplying it as it is the smaller diameter cable.
I have changed the light switch fitting for a FCU and placed the 3amp fuse in the FCU. I connect up the extractor hood live and neutral to the load terminals on the FCU and connected the circuit cable into the IN terminals. I switched it on and the lights flickered a couple of times on the hood and then it went out. Now doesn't come on.
Not sure what I am doing wrong! I did test the extractor hood using the 3 pin socket before doing the above.
Not sure if the 3 amp fuse is correct as it is already connected to the lighting circuit.
Please help.
Thanks

Put the plug back on and see if it works, if not then the problem is in the extractor and will need returning to supplier.
A 3a fuse is the correct rating for a hood.
