Can anything other than the ballast dying go wrong with a fluorescent light fixture?

The fixture in my kitchen has two of the circline fluorescent bulbs. Last week one burned out and I replaced it. The light worked for a week and then the other bulb went. When I replaced the second one the light would not work anymore.

If nothing else besides the ballast could be then problem then I will buy a new fixture.

Thanks
