I am in the early prossess of building a games room at the bottom of my garden, this room will be 12.4m x 5.5m and house a full size snooker table.
My problem:
I have been advised to lay the floor as... Block/Brick frame, filled with hard core topped with one inch of sand, a 1200 dpm insulation bed turned up the sides, topped with 100mm of concrete. This will have to be poured in three blocks.
The insulation I have is 120mm Rockwool block type. The method of laying this type of floor suggests the 100mm concrete slab is fully floating on a bed of insulation. I cant understand why the concrete will not at some stage compress the insulation and sink. The weight of a full size snooker table is very heavy. Can anyone advise if this method is Ok, or any other suggestion would be appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

Rockwool is definately not the right insulation.
The hard core is ok but you must vibrate it down hard, the sand is a blind to stop any damage to the dpc, the concrete is then poured to the required thickness (100mm) is average.
Ok so now we have the oversite all nicely concreted and ready for the top coats.
Snooker tables, slate being very absorbent needs to be protected from any moisture, otherwise the cloth will stretch and the table will be slow.
Underfloor heating should be considered as the best form of heating at this time and 50mm Celotex is the best insulation to go under it.
Having fitted the insulation board, the underfloor heating can be fix to the insulation, followed by a minimum 75mm screed.
Build table when the floor is very dry, maybe a month at least, and enjoy.
If I'm in the area I will try it out
