I know this sounds a bit odd, but which way should the pump be pumping the water around the system? I took out the old pump to replace it and now I'm not sure which way it's supposed to go back in.

I have a bungalow with a Gloworm Hideaway boiler, a Grundfoss pump and Drayton control valve. The pump is vertically mounted on a pipe above the control valve which leads to the tank and the pipe (which I presume goes to the radiators).

Should the water be pumped up the pipe thus pulling water trhough the valve, or downwards to force water through it.

I replaced the pump but now, although I have bled the whole system and the pump is pumping water the boiler will not even attempt to light and I'm not sure what to do next.

Thanks for any help.
