I have seen this syphon arrangement in a friend's bathroom, when the cistern gets to the overflow point, the water is directed down the flush pipe into the pan, thus removing the need for a separate overflow pipe. Can these syphons be fitted to any WC, or does it have to be a special cistern ? I have two WCs where the cistern is joined to the pan by a short length of flush pipe (close coupled ?) Can I fit these new sypnons to these, and so remove the overflow pipes ?

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

If it has a short length of pipe its a low level suite, a close couple suite is where the cistern sits on the pan.

For the low level type get a Twyfords 10 kit from you local merchant, for a close couple type come back with type of pan make etc.

Thanks very much, my WC is a low level one. So does this kit change an ordinary syphon into a super one, or is it a new syphon ?

Ta again

My merchant rang Twyfords, who say that the 10 kit has been discontinued !? However, they say that they have some internal overflow syphons 'on the shelf'. Thanks anyway for your trouble.

My boy bought 1 last week, must be old stock.

Dont forget the plastic stop for your old overflow, came as part of the kit.

Sorted !! and for the quite unreasonable cost of £2.83 +VAT !! A Bargain I reckon. The only problem being the plastic stop/bung/grommet for the now redundant overflow aperture in the cistern, my merchants didn't stock one - any ideas ?

Thanks for your help.

Well done, see if you can get a tap hole stopper for a basin/sink, that should do it.

thescruff. Very Happy
